Heat Pumps & Ductless Mini-Splits

Efficient heating and cooling, with or without ductwork

Call (540) 448-7780

Is a heat pump or a mini-split right for my home?

A ducted heat pump heats and cools the whole house through existing ductwork. A ductless mini-split suits additions, garages, sunrooms and older homes without ducts, with an indoor head in each room. Integrity Air Solutions installs and repairs both, and recommends the one that fits your home and budget without sales pressure.

Heat Pumps

A heat pump moves heat instead of burning fuel, so one system heats in winter and cools in summer. We install new heat pumps, replace failing ones, and repair units that are not heating, not cooling or running constantly.

Ductless Mini-Splits

Mini-splits bring heating and cooling to rooms the ductwork never reached: additions, bonus rooms, garages, sunrooms and older homes. Each indoor head runs on its own, so you only condition the rooms you use.

Sized to the House, Not to the Old Unit

Bigger is not better with a heat pump. A system too large for the house runs in short bursts, leaves rooms clammy in summer and wears out sooner; one too small runs nonstop on the coldest and hottest days. Matching the new unit to the old one repeats whatever mistake was made last time, so we look at the house itself: its size, insulation, windows and how the rooms are used.

Heat Pumps in a Valley Winter

A heat pump pulls heat from outdoor air, and it has less to work with as the temperature drops. On the coldest nights most systems lean on backup heat: electric heat strips in the air handler, or a gas furnace paired with the heat pump so each runs when it is cheapest. In frosty weather the outdoor unit also runs short defrost cycles, and a little steam off the unit is normal.

Keeping a Mini-Split Running Well

Each indoor head has a washable filter behind the front panel. Rinse it every few weeks in heavy use, let it dry and slide it back in. Keep leaves, snow and shrubs clear of the outdoor unit so it can breathe, and book a yearly service to clean the coils and check the refrigerant.
